Fresh worm castings make a fresh castings brew — for pots, not cups (some call it worm tea, not a drink). Brew it, use it within 24 hours (don’t store it — old brew can go rancid and hurt plants), and give your houseplants a happy wiggle.

What's in your kit
- Fresh pure worm castings
- Aeration pump
- Brew bag
- Dangle stick
- PE gloves
- Unsulphured molasses (1-Cup kit: 1 packet per gallon; 2-Cup: 2 packets; 5-Cup: 3 molasses packets, one 3-tsp and two 1-tsp. Squeeze all 3 into 5 gallons of water.)
You supply a clean brewing bucket. Use non-chlorinated water (or tap water left out at least 24 hours so the chlorine can leave), at room temperature. Rain or filtered water works too.

Brew steps
- Put on the gloves. Fill your container with non-chlorinated water (or tap water left out at least 24 hours so the chlorine can leave), at room temperature (do not use warm water) (plan on 1 gallon of water for each cup of worm castings).
- Tear open the molasses packet and squeeze it into the water (one packet per gallon). Stir to mix.
- Place the fresh worm castings (1 cup per gallon) in the brew bag and secure it. Hang it in the water with the dangle stick so the bag is submerged.
- Hook up the aeration pump, lower the hose to the bottom of the container, and run air for 24 hours (24 is ideal; 36 hours at most).
- When it looks dark brown, give it a stir.
- Lift out the castings bag and squeeze it over the container. Spent worm castings go on soil or compost.
- Pour it on your pots as brewed, or dilute the finished gallon up to 3 gallons. For a foliar spray, dilute 1:3 or 1:10. Want to give a plant more? Add your own extras after brewing and follow their labels — the Plant Finder has ideas.
- Use within 24 hours — never store it. Living microbes fade fast. Fresh is best.
